The Psychology of the Child $21.95 “Piaget’s influence on psychology has been profound. His pathbreaking investigations and theories of cognitive development have set child psychology moving in entirely new directions. His bold speculations have provided the inspiration for the work of others. His studies have been the subject of many books and countless articles. And, significantly, his influence has spread to other disciplines and is having an ever-growing impact on the general culture at large. Here Jean Piaget, with the assistance of his long-time collaborator Barbel Inhelder, offers a definitive presentation of the developmental psychology he has elaborated over the last forty years. This comprehensive synthesis traces each stage of the child’s cognitive development, over the entire period of childhood, from infancy to adolescence.” |

Articles Of Faith $6.99 What has long been suspected is now coming to light – that the Nazis were not the only ones who profited from their war effort; that the circles of violence reached far beyond the territories invaded by the Germans; and that the suffering continues. Taking his cue from this growing mountain of evidence Robert L. Rodin’s "Articles of Faith" blends this story of greed and gold with his own father’s deathbed tale of the battle he fought against the Nazis on American soil as a member of the OSS. Twenty-five years after his father’s suicide Danny Maguire is raising a family of his own. A phone call on a cold winter evening shatters the steady calm. It is his father on the other end. No sooner does Sean Maguire reappear in Danny’s life then his presence threatens to destroy that life and the lives of Danny’s wife and children. For with him Sean brings a history that men of power are willing to go to desperate ends to repress. And he holds the very articles of faith that point to a sinister ring of smuggling. It is a story of reconciliation a story of suspense and a story of faith. And while it is fiction – it is perhaps not far from the truth. |

The Articles Of Configuration $7.99 The Articles of Configuration: What happened before Genesis began? The scriptures amazingly describe the material building blocks of the earth before our earthly sphere was formed. But, even more amazing, is that the invisible blueprints describing the formation of the universe and its lifeforms are hidden in plain sight in the scriptures in the form of flashback descriptions of what happened before Genesis 1:1. The problem of mankind understanding these blueprints has been that advancements in science were necessary to understand what has been written from antiquity. Science and theology has been locked together in a mighty struggle of ideas. The process, at times, has been ugly as a caterpillar chomping on leaves, regurgitating and trying to build a cocoon of how the universe is really constituted. But this cocoon, like the human brain, has an inside tension between left brained logic and right brained dreaming. A mighty struggle ensues and at last a butterfly emerges from the cocoon and its glistening wings dry in the sun. As the butterfly discovers its destiny and ascends in flight into the brilliant blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds, a serene revelation of peace envelops the butterfly. It realizes that its one wing of science and its other wing of theology are working in harmony under a Master control. Thrilled and awed, the butterfly uses both wings to ascend far above worldly ideas into realms that it once only dreamed of. |

Alex: The Life of a Child $13.98 “>Alexandra Deford, a precious and precocious girl, was just eight years old when she died in 1980 following a battle against the debilitating effects of cystic fibrosis, the number-one genetic killer of children. Her poignant and uplifting story touched the hearts of millions when it was first published and then made into a memorable television movie. A new introduction contains information on the latest cystic fibrosis research, and a touching postcript reveals how the Deford family came to terms with the loss of Alex. >Whenever he speaks, sportswriter Frank Deford knows people will bring articles for him to sign. But what makes him happiest is when someone attends a sports-oriented lecture and brings a copy of “Alex: The Life of a Child “for him to sign. “Invariably, and happily, there’s usually someone at each appearance who either brings that book or wants to talk about their connection to cystic fibrosis.” Deford says. “It’s tremendously gratifying to me. Rarely does a week go by that I don’t get a letter about that book. People leave things at her grave. They really do. I have people tell me that she changed their lives. It’s terribly dramatic, but they literally say that. I heard from a woman who became a pediatric nurse after reading the book. Hearing from people like that means more to me than anything.”" |

Articles of Faith $14.99 This collection of Russell Brand’s columns for The Guardian not only follows the drama and tumult of the domestic and international football season but also a season in the life of one of our most celebrated comic talents. Brand chronicles events both on and off the pitch as he travels between Upton Park and Hollywood. In his literary riffings, football legends and newfound heroes brush shoulders with a pantheon of cultural icons. Matches are won and lost, Brand’s faith in his beloved West Ham tested, while the palette of company he keeps stretches from Morrissey to Gallagher to Gascoigne and back again. Managerial manoeuvres at Wigan are discussed in reference to Joe Orton and the mysteries of the souks. The departure of Mourinho sparks reminisces of the shapely arse of a previous girlfriend. Love blossoms in the unlikely form of Paolo DiCanio. Arsenal’s fluidity and purpose brings to mind yogic coitus of Sting and Trudie Styler. And the fate of his beloved West Ham is seen in parallel with the workings of his legendary libido. ‘On what little things does happiness depend’ he quotes Oscar Wilde – in football as in life. |
